  On the planet Coruscant, golden-robed Jedi walked through streets that had not seen war in centuries. The Galactic Republic stretched its influence into the Outer Rim, planting flags of peace where darkness once reigned. A young Padawan named Keeve Trennis stood on a balcony overlooking the capital, feeling the weight of the Force in her hands. She knew this era was different from the stories told about the Old Republic. The Jedi Order operated as a distinct entity, separate from the Senate yet deeply connected to its people. Temples rose on every major world, their spires glowing against the night sky. This was a time when the galaxy believed it could be saved by those who wielded the light.

• 2. Project Luminous Genesis

  In September 2018, Lucasfilm invited Claudia Gray and Justina Ireland to Skywalker Ranch for a meeting that would change Star Wars history. They received a blank slate with no existing films or television shows to reference. Charles Soule, Daniel José Older, and Cavan Scott joined them in the room. The project was initially called Project Luminous before being renamed Star Wars: The High Republic. On the 24th of February 2020, Lucasfilm announced the new series during a press event. A trailer showed events taking place two centuries before Episode I , The Phantom Menace. The original launch date was set for August 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic until the 5th of January 2021. In June 2020, IGN released the first chapter of the novel. By November 2020, StarWars.com published the second chapter. Disney released a free digital sampler in December 2020 revealing main characters across multiple series. On the 4th of January 2021, Lucasfilm hosted a launch event where they revealed monthly short stories written by Scott and Ireland for Star Wars Insider.

• 3. Phase One Narrative Arcs

  A ship destroyed itself while traveling through hyperspace, sending debris toward an entire system. This event became known as the Great Disaster and marked the beginning of the Nihil threat. Jedi Stellan Gios stood on the bridge of Starlight Beacon when the station came under attack. The Republic Fair gathered leaders from across the galaxy to celebrate peace and innovation. Ty Yorrick, a monster hunter, joined the Jedi in defending the fair from Drengir creatures. Padawan Reath Silas found his ship knocked out of hyperspace over an abandoned space station overrun with plant life. Vernestra Rwoh and Imri Cantaros survived aboard a ship bombed by the Nihil on a hostile jungle moon. Ram Jomaram, a gifted mechanic from a small planet, witnessed the Republic Fair for the first time. Yoda appeared on sabbatical from the Jedi Council mentoring young Padawans during these events. The comic book series There is No Fear premiered on the 6th of January 2021 featuring Keeve Trennis hunting down Nihil forces.

• 4. Multimedia Expansion Strategy

  The High Republic initiative launched with novels published by Del Rey starting in January 2021. Disney, Lucasfilm Press released middle-grade and young adult titles throughout 2021 and 2022. Marvel Comics began publishing ongoing series in January 2021 with art by Ario Anindito. IDW Comics released The High Republic Adventures beginning the 3rd of February 2021. Viz Media published The Edge of Balance manga on the 7th of September 2021. Penguin Random House Audio produced Tempest Runner as an audio drama on the 31st of August 2021. Star Wars Insider magazine featured monthly short stories written by Scott and Ireland. Web series Characters of Star Wars: The High Republic released animated shorts on the 19th of January 2021. The official YouTube channel hosted The High Republic Show bi-monthly starting the 27th of January 2021. Young Jedi Adventures became the first full-length animated series for young audiences on Disney+ and Disney Jr. The Acolyte was announced as a mystery-thriller set during the late High Republic era. Star Wars Eclipse game development began in December 2021 under Quantic Dream.

• 5. Phase Two Conflict Escalation

  The twin planets Eiram and Eronoh were locked in war while chancellors attempted to broker peace through marriage. Princess Xiri A’lbaran of Eronoh was to wed Prince Phan-tu Zenn of Eiram. Marda and Yana Ro, cousins who would become ancestors of Marchion Ro, joined The Path of the Open Hand on planet Dalna. The Mother led this secretive religious order that believed Jedi manipulation disrupted universal balance. Jedi arrived to investigate theft of Force-related artifacts from the Path. The Battle of Jedha occurred when the Path conspired to attack a treaty signing in Jedha's holy city. Cataclysm followed events of the battle showing Jedi efforts to re-establish peace between Eiram and Eronoh. Quest for the Hidden City took place at Enlightenment, a bar where short stories centered around the location. The audio drama The Battle of Jedha released the 14th of February 2023 detailing the conspiracy against the treaty. The Blade comic premiered November 2022 featuring Charles Soule writing with Marco Castiello as artist.

• 6. Commercial Reception and Impact

  Light of the Jedi reached #2 best selling novel status on Amazon during its first week of release. It also topped The New York Times Best Seller list for hardcover fiction staying there four weeks. A Test of Courage debuted at #2 on The New York Times children's middle grade hardcover list for two weeks. Into the Dark achieved #1 position on young adult hardcover novels lists upon publication. Marvel's High Republic comic sold over 200,000 physical pre-orders to comic book shops before official release. Comixology reported the first two issues were the best-selling digital comics during their release week. Star Wars Celebration 2022 drew approximately 4,000 people to the High Republic panel hall. Charles Soule noted that dozens attended a cosplay meetup afterward wearing elaborate costumes. The event connected deeply with fans who had created beautiful High Republic outfits.
