Super Canceling enabled fighters to interrupt one Super Combo sequence directly into another Super Combo for extended damage potential while Guard Breaks served as unique counter-moves designed to bypass standard blocking attempts entirely.
Original fighters Ryu Ken Chun-Li Zangief and Guile returned alongside newcomers Hokuto Doctrine Dark Skullomania and Cracker Jack. Four hidden characters required specific unlock conditions: Kairi Shadow Geist Nanase and Garuda the boss figure.
