Akira Yasuda designed Sakura Kasugano in 1996 after his initial concept was rejected by the development team. He intended to create a distinct high school girl who stood apart from traditional martial artists.
Sakura stands 157 centimeters tall with measurements of 80-60-84 centimeters. Her standard outfit features a white and blue sailor fuku shirt that exposes her lower midriff, red bloomers under a blue skirt, and a yellow scarf around her neck.
