  • Andrew Clement Serkis arrived in the world on the 20th of April 1964 within the quiet suburb of Ruislip Manor. His childhood unfolded across two distinct continents, with time spent in both Britain and Iraq. The family home shifted between Ruislip and the bustling streets of Baghdad during his formative years. His mother Lylie Weech taught disabled children while her own heritage blended English and Iraqi roots. Father Clement Serkis worked as a gynaecologist often stationed abroad throughout the Middle East region.

    The family maintained regular holidays visiting Tyre Sidon Damascus and Baghdad before returning to England. Both parents held devout Catholic beliefs that shaped their household values despite later changes. Serkis attended St Benedict's School in Ealing where he first encountered structured education.     During his final year at university he adapted Raymond Briggs's graphic novel into a one-man show. This production titled The Tin-Pot Foreign General and the Old Iron Woman received acclaim from audiences. The satirical piece examined the Falklands War through a single performer's lens. Serkis changed his major subject from visual arts to acting based on this experience.

The studio operates a performance capture facility located in London dedicated to producing film and television content. Sister company The Imaginarium Studios uses performance capture technology for various projects.

    He made his directorial debut with Breathe released in 2017 through Imaginarium. Serkis also directed and starred in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle playing Baloo himself. August 2019 saw him close a deal to direct Venom: Let There Be Carnage which opened theatres in October 2021.

    April 2022 marked when he was set to direct Animal Farm an animated adaptation of George Orwell's novella. May 2024 announced plans for The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum expected release delayed until the 17th of December 2027. Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens co-wrote the screenplay while Jackson co-produced alongside them.
