Street Fighter Alpha was developed for both the aging CPS-1 hardware and the newer CPS-2 system. The development team initially built the game for the CPS-1 boards to utilize leftover inventory before shifting to the CPS-2 system when Capcom found itself with a surplus of the newer hardware.
