Ludwig Emil Tomas Göransson arrived in the world on the 1st of September 1984. He grew up in Linköping, a city in southern Sweden. His mother Maria worked as a florist and came from Warsaw, Poland. His father Tomas taught guitar and was Swedish by birth. An older sister named Jessika shared his childhood home. The family named him after Ludwig van Beethoven. Music lessons began at a young age for the boy. He later graduated from the Stockholm Royal College of Music. In 2007, he moved to Los Angeles to study at the University of Southern California Scoring for Motion Picture and Television program.
Göransson received his first major break in 2009 as the composer for the NBC comedy series Community. The show ran from 2009 through 2015. On the 5th of May 2018 They released This Is America which debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. It became the 31st song to top that chart in history. The song won all four nominated categories at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. These wins included Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
