Disney XD
At 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time on the 13th of February 2009, the lights went out on Toon Disney and flickered back to life as Disney XD. The first show to air was an episode of Phineas and Ferb titled Dude We're Getting the Band Back Together. This moment marked the end of an animation-focused channel that had launched in April 1998. It also signaled the beginning of a new strategy for older children between six and eleven years old. Gary Marsh, President of Entertainment for Disney Channel Worldwide, explained that the letters X and D held no specific meaning. He stated they simply looked cool to him.
