  Founded in 1936, the Academy of Management brings together professors and practitioners who study how organizations work.   Eight academic journals carry the Academy of Management name. They are the Academy of Management Journal, the Academy of Management Review, the Academy of Management Perspectives (formerly known as the Academy of Management Executive), the Academy of Management Learning and Education, the Academy of Management Annals, the Academy of Management Discoveries, the Academy of Management Collections, and the Academy of Management Insights. The first three of those journals were ranked by the Financial Times in 2006 among the top 40 business journals in the world. That recognition placed them alongside publications from far older and better-funded disciplines, a notable achievement for a field still consolidating its scholarly identity.
