The Spelljammer: Adventures in Space boxed set arrived on the 16th of August 2022. This release marked the first official Spelljammer material published in thirty years since the original 1989 campaign setting.
The Spelljammer: Adventures in Space boxed set contains three distinct sourcebooks including The Astral Adventurer's Guide, Boo's Astral Menagerie, and Light of Xaryxis. Each book measures exactly 64 pages in length and includes a Dungeon Master's screen and a poster map of Rock of Bral.
Boo's Astral Menagerie functions as a bestiary containing 72 creature stat blocks for Wildspace and the Astral Sea. WizKids also released 47 pre-painted miniatures corresponding directly with the Spelljammer setting under their Icons of the Realm line.
The standard edition featured cover art created by three different artists including Bruce Brenneise and Justin Gerard. An alternate art edition appeared with covers designed entirely by Hydro74 for local hobby and game shops.
Light of Xaryxis operated as an adventure module designed to take characters from level 5 to level 8. An introductory adventure module named Spelljammer Academy launched on D&D Beyond to serve as a free promotion that takes player characters from level 1 to level 5 before Light of Xaryxis begins at level 5.
