A local camp changed everything when Luc Mbah a Moute discovered him there in 2011 before he graduated from St. Andrew's Seminary. He returned the following year after which scouts noticed his apparent athleticism and extremely high energy level.
The 2015, 16 season saw him average 20.2 points, 11.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks across 34 games while earning unanimous WAC Player of the Year honors. On the 19th of April 2016, Siakam declared for the NBA draft while forgoing his final two years of college eligibility.
