BTS stands for the Korean phrase Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates literally to Bulletproof Boy Scouts. In July 2017, the group announced that BTS would also stand for Beyond the Scene as part of a new brand identity, extending the meaning to encompass growth from a boy to an adult.
