World Peace Foundation.

The World Peace Foundation emerged in 1910 as a direct response to the massive financial investments poured into war. Edwin Ginn, a wealthy publisher, provided the initial funding that allowed this new entity to take shape. He originally named it the International School of Peace before changing the title to World Peace Foundation. Ginn believed that if nations spent fortunes on conflict, they should also invest modestly in peace through democracy. This philosophy drew from Immanuel Kant's concept of Perpetual Peace: A Philosophical Sketch. The endowment he created ensured the institute could survive even after his death in 1914.
Leadership Transitions
Edwin D. Mead served as the first director when the organization launched its work in 1910. Decades later, Robert I. Rotberg took over the role and held it from 1993 until 2010. During the early years of the twenty-first century, the foundation operated under the umbrella of the Harvard Kennedy School. Alex de Waal assumed the directorship in 2011, marking a significant shift in leadership. Philip S. Khoury chaired the board of directors during 2012. By 2017, the staff consisted of six employees managing operations with a specific budget.Institutional Relocation
