  • Robert John Downey Jr. was born in Manhattan, New York City, on the 4th of April 1965. His father Robert Downey Sr. worked as a filmmaker while his mother Elsie Ann Ford acted in her husband's movies. The family moved frequently during his childhood to places like Woodstock and London. From age eight, he used marijuana with his father who later expressed regret over that decision. He described the drug use as his father's way of showing love in the only manner he knew.
