• 1. Founding Vision And Origins

  William Brault, a Green Bay restaurateur and Packers fan, founded the Packer Hall of Fame in 1966. Visitors to Green Bay repeatedly asked about the team's storied history. Brault sensed an opportunity to attract and educate tourists about the Packers and their history. He approached Packers head coach Vince Lombardi with his idea. Lombardi gave approval as long as the hall would not interfere with existing players. The facility opened as a series of exhibits displayed in the lower concourse of the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena. It was not a permanent residence at that time.

• 2. Evolution Of Physical Spaces

  The Packer Hall of Fame Association became a separate corporate entity from the team in 1967. Six years later it changed its name to Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, Inc. A new home for the Hall did not arrive until 1976 when an addition to the Brown County Veterans Arena was formally dedicated on the 3rd of April 1976 by President Gerald Ford. Outside the building stood Receiver, a statue dedicated to the invention of the forward pass. The facility remained temporary in nature until this formal dedication marked its first permanent status.

• 3. Modern Renovation And Relocation

  Renovations to Lambeau Field provided a new home within the new Lambeau Field Atrium for the Hall of Fame in 2003. Packers legends Bart Starr and Ron Wolf rededicated the Hall on the 4th of September 2003. In 2015 the Packers Hall of Fame moved from the basement to the second floor of the Lambeau Field Atrium as part of a larger renovation. The Hall contains a vast array of Packers memorabilia including plaques representing each of the inductees. It also houses Lombardi trophies from Green Bay's four Super Bowl wins and a re-creation of Vince Lombardi's office.

• 4. Induction Process And Criteria

  The Packers Hall of Fame has inducted 171 people into its ranks over the years. Thirty of those individuals have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Selection committees identify players, coaches, and executives based on their contributions to the franchise's legacy. Mark Murphy became the most recent inductee into the hall of fame in August 2025. He joined just a month after retiring as the team's president. The process honors those who shaped the history and success of the organization.

• 5. Creation Of The Fan Hall

  In 1998 the Packers created the Green Bay Packers Fan Hall of Fame to honor fans of a professional football team. Fans may nominate themselves or others by submitting an essay of 500 words or less explaining why they deserve recognition. Ten finalists are chosen by a selection committee before fans vote on them. The nominee receiving the most votes each year is named as the honorary fan and inducted into the FAN Hall of Fame. Since its founding twenty-five fans have been inducted with names displayed in the main hall.

• 6. Notable Inductees And Records

  Curly Lambeau received induction in 1970 alongside Cal Hubbard who also entered that same year. Tony Canadeo was honored in 1973 while Ray Nitschke followed in 1978. Brett Favre was inducted in 2015 and Charles Woodson in 2021. Greg Jennings joined the ranks in 2022. The list includes legends like Vince Lombardi and recent executive Mark Murphy. Over 170 individuals have been honored across decades of history.
