Wayne Gordon Hammond, born on the 11th of February 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio, is an American scholar and librarian known for his research on J. R. R. Tolkien. He has co-authored several major Tolkien reference works with his wife Christina Scull, and together they have won the Mythopoeic Scholarship Award for Inklings Studies five times.
Hammond and Scull have co-authored J. R. R. Tolkien: Artist and Illustrator (1995), The Lord of the Rings: A Reader's Companion (2005), The J. R. R. Tolkien Companion and Guide (2006, revised 2017), The Lord of the Rings 1954-2004: Scholarship in Honor of Richard E. Blackwelder (2006), and The Collected Poems of J.R.R. Tolkien (2024).
