Tushar Gandhi established the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation in Vadodara, Gujarat, in 1998 and later moved its headquarters to Mumbai. Since 1996 he has served as President of the Lok Seva Trust for textile workers which Dr. Kanti Gandhi created in central Bombay during the mid-1950s.
The deal failed because public outrage erupted immediately after news broke about using Mahatma Gandhi's image in advertisements targeting university students for a credit card company.
