Pope Pius X raised the feast to the dignity of a primary of the first class on the 24th of July 1911 through Acta Ap. Sedis volume three page 351. This change elevated the status of the celebration within the Roman Catholic calendar.
The oldest hymn still sung to this day on Trinity Sunday is a 12th century Italian hymn recorded in the Laudario di Cortona known as Alta Trinità beata. This piece predates other surviving musical works associated with the feast.
In the Eastern Orthodox, Eastern Catholic and Eastern Lutheran churches, the Sunday of Pentecost itself is called Trinity Sunday instead of the day after. The Sunday after Pentecost becomes All Saints Sunday in their tradition while green vestments symbolize life and renewal during this period of worship.
