Ken Wakui wrote and illustrated Tokyo Revengers. The manga was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine from the 1st of March, 2017, to the 16th of November, 2022. Its 278 chapters were collected into 31 volumes.
By June 2024, Tokyo Revengers had over 80 million copies in circulation worldwide. The series ranked third in manga sales for the full year of 2021 with over 24.9 million copies sold, and ranked second in 2022 with over eleven million copies sold.
The Tokyo Revengers anime premiered on the 11th of April, 2021, on MBS and other Japanese networks. It was produced by Liden Films and directed by Koichi Hatsumi.
The Buddhist manji symbol used by the Tokyo Manji Gang resembles the left-facing swastika adopted by the Nazi party, creating potential confusion in countries where that history is prominent. Tokyo Revengers won the 44th Kodansha Manga Award in the shonen category in 2020. The opening theme "Cry Baby" won Best Theme Song at the 44th Anime Grand Prix. The 45th Anime Grand Prix awarded its Grand Prix to Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown, the series' second season.
The first season is available on Crunchyroll worldwide outside Asia. The second and third seasons are on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ worldwide. The English dub was set to begin airing on Adult Swim's Toonami block from the 8th of February, 2026.
