The Hollywood Creative Alliance renamed their awards to the Astra Awards on the 17th of November 2023. This decision was made by the advisory committee to rebrand the organization and its ceremonies from the Hollywood Critics Association to the Hollywood Creative Alliance.
The first annual Film Awards ceremony was held at the Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles on the 10th of January 2018. This venue served as a recurring home for the ceremony during its early years before moving to other locations like the Avalon Hollywood and the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
Dune: Part Two won Best Picture at the 2024 Astra Film Awards. The film also took home the award for Best Director, while Zendaya won Best Actress for her role in Challengers and Glen Powell won Best Actor for Hit Man.
