TeQuila is the stage name of Tekla Iita, a Namibian singer born on the 27th of January 1985. She first came to public attention as a featuring artist on Sunny Boy's album Young, Black en Gifted before releasing her own music with producer Stalin Kapembe.
"Thando Lwami" is a track on South African DJ Bojo Mojo's album Session 6, released in 2009, on which TeQuila provided vocals. The album sold more than 50,000 copies between Namibia and South Africa, earning TeQuila and fellow Namibian singer Lady May a platinum award.
TeQuila won five awards at the 2012 Namibian Annual Music Awards, having been nominated in six categories. Her wins included Best Female Artist of the Year.
TeQuila released four albums: The Sound of My Heart in 2007, Golden Sunset in 2011, UNBREAKABLE in 2013, and Destiny the Lioness in 2014.
TeQuila acted in Between Friends, a 2008 film directed by Vixen Hangula. The film promotes condom use and encourages women to support one another.
In 2006, TeQuila won the Legal Shield Winna Mariba Song Writing Competition.
