Team Thor is a mockumentary series in which Thor, after helping save Earth, moves in with an ordinary Australian office worker named Darryl Jacobson. The films document their domestic arrangement through direct-to-camera interviews shot in a documentary style.
Team Thor was released in September 2016 on the digital home media of Captain America: Civil War. Team Thor: Part 2 followed on the home media of Doctor Strange in February 2017. Team Darryl was released on digital download on the 20th of February 2018.
Team Thor was filmed one month before Thor: Ragnarok began production in July 2016. It was made to show MCU fans the irreverent, comedic tone Waititi planned for Ragnarok. Waititi said the short "helped us a lot" in previewing how different his approach would be.
Darryl Jacobson is played by Daley Pearson in all three short films. Pearson later reprised the role in Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022, where Darryl appears as a tour guide in New Asgard.
All three Team Thor shorts were made available on Disney+ in January 2022. At that point, Marvel officially classified them as One-Shots, listing them as the sixth through eighth entries in that short film series.
