Taika Waititi directed all three Team Thor short films as a mockumentary project. He also starred in the series alongside co-star Daley Pearson who plays Darryl Jacobson.
Filming for Team Thor occurred one month before the start of filming on Thor: Ragnarok in July 2016. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige stated that the shorts served as a strategic preview to redefine Thor into what he became in Ragnarok.
Three Team Thor short films were produced and initially released from 2016 to 2018. Team Thor Part 2 came out in February 2017 while Team Darryl was released on the 20th of February 2018.
