Management duties shifted from Heartland Soccer Association to Sporting Fields + Athletics over time. The partnership between the city parks department and Sporting Kansas City ensures these resources remain available to the community.
The main stadium hosted the Big 12 Conference women's soccer tournament from 2013 through 2019. It also served as the location for NCAA Division II Men's and Women's soccer championships and men's and women's Division III championships for college teams across the country.
The facility features nine fields in total including one natural-grass stadium field and two natural-grass practice fields reserved for Sporting Kansas City. Six additional artificial turf fields serve local youth soccer clubs throughout the region.
In January 2015, FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League reached an agreement with Sporting to play home games at the main stadium. The team utilized bleachers purchased from Durwood Soccer Stadium to increase capacity to 3,557 seats before folding after the 2017 season ending their tenure at the facility.
