Paramount+ first launched on the 28th of October 2014 as CBS All Access, a service from CBS Corporation. It focused on live streaming of CBS's local affiliates plus on-demand access to CBS programs and library content.
The service was renamed Paramount+ on the 4th of March 2021, taking its name from Paramount Pictures. The rename followed the 2019 merger of CBS Corporation and Viacom and positioned Paramount+ as ViacomCBS's flagship streaming service.
