Governor Ernst Johan Creutz granted rights to the wilderness of East Vantaa in 1662, creating the legal foundation for the present village. Burgess Erkki Nukari offered himself as a permanent caretaker for the bridge over Nukarinkoski rapids and established his home that same year.
