He is best known for playing Daryl Dixon in the AMC series The Walking Dead, a character created specifically for him after he auditioned for a different role, and for starring as Sam Porter Bridges in Hideo Kojima's video game Death Stranding.
Daryl Dixon did not originate in The Walking Dead comic book series. The character was created specifically for Norman Reedus after his audition impressed the production team enough that they invented a new role for him rather than casting him in the existing character he had tried out for.

Reedus is a painter, sculptor, and photographer who has exhibited in galleries in New York City, Barcelona, Berlin, and Frankfurt. He published a photography book in 2013 and a debut novel, The Ravaged, in 2022. He also hosts the AMC travel series Ride with Norman Reedus, which premiered in June 2016, and owns part of the restaurant chain Nic and Normans.
