ND Stevenson, born Noelle Diana Stevenson on the 31st of December 1991, in Columbia, South Carolina, is an American cartoonist and animation producer. He is best known as the creator and showrunner of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, for the graphic novel Nimona, and as co-writer of the comic series Lumberjanes.
ND Stevenson created Nimona as a class assignment during his junior year at Maryland Institute College of Art. He began publishing it as a webcomic in mid-2012, and a literary agent who found it online helped him sign with HarperCollins to publish it as a graphic novel. It also served as his senior thesis in 2012.
ND Stevenson has won multiple Eisner Awards, including the 2016 Eisner Award for Best Graphic Album: Reprint for Nimona, and Eisner Awards for Best New Series and Best Publication for Teens for Lumberjanes in 2015. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power won the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Kids and Family Programming in 2021 and received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination at the 46th Daytime Emmy Awards.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power ran for five seasons on Netflix from 2018 to 2020. In December 2025 it was reported that the series might leave Netflix in February 2026 due to the expiration of DreamWorks' license.
ND Stevenson publicly announced he was nonbinary in July 2020 and stated he is transmasculine and bigender on the 31st of March 2021, the International Transgender Day of Visibility. He changed his first name to ND in August 2021, and on the 30th of June 2022, announced the name Nate, which he had been using privately since 2021. He uses he/him pronouns and accepts the nickname "Indy."
Scarlet Morning is the first part of a two-book illustrated middle-grade prose novel series published by HarperCollins in September 2025. Stevenson originally wrote the story at age 12 as a 600-page manuscript influenced by Christopher Paolini's Eragon. The story is described as queer and involving pirates.
