Monopoly Star Wars is a 1997 video game adaptation of the Monopoly board game set in the Star Wars universe. Artech Studios developed it and Hasbro Interactive published it exclusively for Microsoft Windows computers.
Players choose from eight Star Wars characters in Monopoly Star Wars: Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Stormtrooper. Up to four people can play, and solo players can add up to three AI opponents.
C-3PO narrates Monopoly Star Wars, voiced by Anthony Daniels, the actor who portrays the droid in the Star Wars films. Daniels also contributed writing to the game.
Monopoly Star Wars won the 1998 Software Publishers Association Award for Best Use of Visual Arts in Multimedia. Its full-motion video and 3D animation were praised, though some reviewers felt the multimedia slowed the pace of play.
A PlayStation version of Monopoly Star Wars was announced at E3 1997 and would have let players control characters freely. It was soon canceled for reasons that were never made public.
