Millionaires formed on the 14th of August 2007, according to their Myspace signup. The original members were sisters Melissa Marie Green and Allison Green, who recorded their first song using GarageBand, and Dani Artaud, who joined shortly after when Melissa Marie asked her to.
Millionaires' debut album was titled Tonight, released on the 13th of March 2013, as an independent release on CD and digital download. It contained 11 songs and sold 697 copies in its first week; the album received negative reviews from music critics.
Millionaires were signed to the English label B-Unique in late 2009, and their single "Stay the Night" was submitted to the BBC for Eurovision 2010. Pete Waterman eliminated it before the live decisions. The label subsequently dropped the group and their planned album was scrapped.
Several MTV productions used Millionaires songs. "Ooh Uh Huh" was the theme for A Double Shot at Love with the Ikki Twins, "Hey Rich Boy" was the theme for Teen Cribs, and "I Like Money" and "I Move It" appeared on My Life as Liz. The group also performed "I Move It" live on TRL as part of the On the Radar segment.
Allison Green left Millionaires to focus on her work as a photographer. Melissa Marie Green announced the departure on the 14th of August 2022, stating she would continue the group as a solo artist.
Meredith Hurley and Anissa Zermeno joined Millionaires in June 2023. The new lineup made their debut at the So What?! Musical Festival in Dallas, Texas, on the 24th of June 2023.
