By 1993 he became the first programmer in Cartoon Network history while running TBS's animation block from four thirty to six PM Eastern time daily. This role required managing content schedules and building relationships across departments using his background in logistics.
The year 1994 marked a turning point when Lazzo helped create Space Ghost Coast to Coast as the first animated late-night talk show ever produced for Cartoon Network. His production company Ghost Planet Industries developed this spin-off of Hanna-Barbera's original Space Ghost character in 1995.
Ghost Planet Industries changed its name to Williams Street in 1999 and started developing non-Space Ghost-related comedy cartoons aimed at adult audiences. Shows like The Brak Show, Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force premiered unannounced in early mornings of December 2000.
Michael Lazzo retired from the company on the 16th of December 2019 after decades of service. His contributions earned him recognition including an Emmy Award listed in 2021 for Outstanding Animated Program.
