Metro Station was formed by singer Mason Musso and guitarist/bassist Trace Cyrus, who met on the set of Hannah Montana in 2005. The band also included keyboardist Blake Healy, drummer Anthony Improgo, and later drummer Spencer Steffan, among other past members.
Metro Station is best known for the single "Shake It," released on the 1st of April 2008. The song peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA.
Metro Station was discovered by an intern working for Columbia Records' Walking Eye program, who found the band while browsing the MySpace Music Unsigned Band's charts. The group was signed shortly after that discovery.
Metro Station went on indefinite hiatus in March 2010 following personal disputes between Mason Musso and Trace Cyrus during studio sessions. Both founders left to pursue solo projects, with Cyrus launching a project called Ashland High.
Metro Station released Savior, their second full-length studio album, on the 30th of June 2015. The album featured 18 tracks and included a lead single with Ronnie Radke.
Trace Cyrus, co-founder of Metro Station, is the brother of Miley Cyrus and the son of Billy Ray Cyrus. Mason Musso, the other co-founder, is the brother of Mitchel Musso, who starred on Hannah Montana. The two met on the show's set in 2005.
