Amoros began his professional career with AS Monaco during the early 1980s before Olympique de Marseille signed him before the 1989, 90 season began. He helped Monaco win league championships in 1981, 82 and 1987, 88 while leading Marseille to three consecutive Division 1 titles from 1989 through 1992.
The FIFA World Cup finals took place in 1982 when Amoros was just twenty years old. He received the award for Best Young Player at that tournament which highlighted his exceptional performance on the global stage.
Amoros earned eighty-two caps representing the France national team over many years. He competed in the UEFA European Championships finals of 1984 and 1992 alongside his World Cup appearances.
In June 2010 he became the manager of the Comoros Islands national team. He held that position until September 2010 when he stepped down before taking charge of Benin by January 2012.
