Love was a 2006 theatrical production by Cirque du Soleil that combined re-produced and re-imagined Beatles music with circus-based performance. It played in a theatre built specifically for the show at the Mirage in Las Vegas.
Love opened with a gala performance on the 30th of June 2006, after preview shows ran from the 2nd of June to the 29th of June. Tickets had gone on sale on the 19th of April 2006.
Dominic Champagne wrote and directed Love and shared show concept creator credit with Gilles Ste-Croix, one of Cirque du Soleil's founders. George Martin and his son Giles Martin served as music directors, and Neil Aspinall, then-manager of Apple Corps Ltd, was the first executive producer.
Cirque du Soleil announced on the 10th of April 2024 that Love would end, with a final performance on the 7th of July, Ringo Starr's 84th birthday. The Mirage is being redeveloped into a Hard Rock Hotel and Casino set to reopen in 2027, and the Love Theatre will not be rebuilt there.
The Love Theatre housed 6,351 speakers and 2,013 seats arranged around a central stage, with each seat fitted with three speakers, including a pair in the headrest. The venue was said to have cost more than $100 million and replaced the Mirage's Siegfried & Roy theater.
Love used prerecorded Beatles material rather than live music, sampling 120 songs to create 27 musical pieces. The only newly composed music was a string arrangement George Martin wrote for 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps,' paired with the song's first studio demo.
