London on da Track is the professional name of London Tyler Holmes, an American record producer and rapper born on the 27th of March, 1991, in Memphis. He grew up in Atlanta, where he learned piano and keyboards at church before turning to hip-hop production.
Holmes began rapping at sixteen with a group called Dem Guyz and started making beats to avoid paying for licensed instrumentals on SoundClick. He drew on his church piano training and online software to refine the craft, eventually gaining local recognition by producing for the Rich Kidz.
His first Billboard Hot 100 entry was Tyga's single "Hookah," released in April 2014, which reached number 85. That same month, three songs he produced charted simultaneously: Rich Gang's "Lifestyle" at number 16, T.I.'s "About the Money" at 42, and "Hookah" at 85.
Ariana Grande's "Positions," which Holmes produced and co-wrote in March 2020, is his most commercially successful production. It debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and also topped the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.
Holmes and Young Thug have collaborated frequently since 2011, when they recorded a song called "Curtains" together. Young Thug has described Holmes as his favorite producer to work with and has said Holmes will go down as "the greatest producer ever."
Holmes signed with Cash Money Records as an in-house producer by 2014 through his proximity to Young Thug, who was affiliated with Rich Gang, a Cash Money spin-off project. Label boss Birdman, whose full name is Bryan Williams, later called Holmes "the best producer in the business."
