Haneda was best known as the composer of Wizardry, the game ported to the NES and SNES by the publisher Ascii in the early 1990s. He was also recognized for The Super Dimension Fortress Macross series, Barefoot Gen, Ys Symphony, Symphony Sorcerian, and Genso Suikoden Ongaku-shu.
Kentarō Haneda died on the 2nd of June 2007, at the age of 58, from liver cancer.
Haneda trained at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo. After graduating, he joined the faculty of the Tokyo College of Music as a professor.
Haneda composed music for The Super Dimension Fortress Macross (1982), Space Cobra (1982), Final Yamato (1983), Barefoot Gen (1983), and many others. His anime credits span from The Adventure of Kohsuke Kindaichi in 1977 to Genji and Mikeneko Holmes: The Lord of Ghost Castle in 1992.
Kentarō Haneda went by the popular nickname Haneken.
