Larry Schwarz created the animated series Kappa Mikey while working at Rumpus Toys in 2000. Schwarz developed the project through his own company, Animation Collective, in partnership with Sunbow Entertainment.
The Kappa Mikey production team created animation using Adobe Flash and rendered CGI elements in Maya. They exported vehicles and weapons from Maya into Flash using the Toon Filter and added textures and clouds in Photoshop.
Michael Sinterniklaas voiced the character Mikey Simon in Kappa Mikey. He was a 19-year-old American actor who also owned the Manhattan-based studio NYAV Post where the audio was recorded.
