Jeffrey Gale Williamson, born on the 26th of November 1935, is the Laird Bell Professor of Economics (Emeritus) at Harvard University and one of the world's foremost scholars on the economic history of the international economy. His research focuses on comparative economic history, the history of the international economy, and global development.
Williamson taught at the University of Wisconsin in Madison from 1963 to 1983, a span of two decades, making it the institution where he spent the longest period of his career before moving to Harvard University in 1983.
