Jagran Prakashan was formally incorporated on the 18th of July 1975. Its origins go back to 1942, when Shri Puran Chandra Gupta, JC Arya, and Shri Gurudev founded Dainik Jagran in Jhansi during the Quit India Movement, on the declared principle of reflecting the free will of the people.
Dainik Jagran is ranked the 17th most widely read newspaper in the world and is India's largest Hindi language newspaper. Its first edition was published in Jhansi in 1942, with the Kanpur edition following in 1947.
