The first edition of Dainik Jagran emerged in 1942 during the Quit India Movement and appeared in Jhansi, a city in Uttar Pradesh. The publication was launched by Shri Puran Chandra Gupta alongside revolutionary companions JC Arya and Shri Gurudev.
