Hedo Türkoğlu is a Turkish basketball executive and former NBA player, born on the 19th of March 1979 in Istanbul. He was the first Turkish-born player in NBA history, won the NBA Most Improved Player award for the 2007-08 season, and played in the 2009 NBA Finals with the Orlando Magic. He has served as president of the Turkish Basketball Federation since October 2016.

At EuroBasket 2001 he averaged 15.5 points per game, and at the 2010 World Championship, held in Turkey, he averaged 12.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game as Turkey beat every team except the champion United States.
Türkoğlu was born in the Gaziosmanpaşa district of Istanbul to parents who are Bosniaks originally from the village of Lažani in central North Macedonia. After moving to Turkey, his family changed their surname from Ramićević to Türkoğlu, which translates as "Son of a Turk." He is fluent in Turkish, Serbian, and Bosnian.
