Westfield Mayor Andy Cook campaigned on a promise to build the massive sports complex. He pushed for the project with determination and clear goals to transform the quiet town into a regional hub for athletics.
Construction began in earnest during the early 2010s. The site grew from open farmland into a sprawling facility by summer 2016 when the Grand Park Events Center opened its doors.
The Indianapolis Colts hold their annual training camp at this location while Indy Eleven soccer teams call the venue home base for matches. Since 2022, the Indy Eleven USL W League team plays here regularly and starting in 2018, the Indianapolis AlleyCats began using the grass as their field.
