Giovanni Vincenzo Infantino arrived in the world on the 23rd of March 1970 within the Swiss town of Brig. His parents were immigrants from Italy who hailed specifically from the regions of Calabria and Lombardy.
August 2000 marked the start of Infantino's tenure with the Union of European Football Associations as Director of Legal Affairs and Club Licensing Division. He assumed the role of Secretary General in October 2009 after serving as Deputy General Secretary since 2007.
Re-elections occurred later on the 5th of June 2019 and again on the 16th of March 2023 following his initial election on the 26th of February 2016. This election made him the first Italian to hold the presidency of the global governing body.
