Fiserv Forum opened its doors on the 26th of August 2018 during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the 4th annual Bucks Block Party. The first live event took place on the 4th of September 2018 featuring The Killers with Violent Femmes performing before an audience.
Taxpayers contributed $250 million towards the total construction cost of $524 million for Fiserv Forum. The city of Milwaukee sold the land in downtown Milwaukee for $1 to the team while Kohl and new ownership provided $200 million toward the project.
The site sits between 4th Street and 6th Street from State Street to McKinley Avenue in the Deer District. The plaza outside serves as public space and features Herb Kohl Way unveiled on the 26th of August 2018.
Fiserv Forum was originally scheduled to host the 2020 Democratic National Convention from July 13 to 16, 2020 but it was postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. On the 15th of the 18th of July 2024 the venue hosted the 2024 Republican National Convention and later a campaign rally with Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on the 20th of August 2024.
Fiserv Forum seats 17,385 for basketball games and up to 18,000 for concerts while holding 17,500 people overall. The venue also features a layout and equipment for an NHL/NCAA-regulation ice hockey rink.
