Family Force 5 was founded by three young boys from Atlanta named Solomon, Joshua, and Jacob Olds in 1994. They initially released an album titled Fact and Reality under the name The Brothers before evolving into the group known today.
Family Force 5 released the album Business Up Front Party in the Back on the 21st of March 2006. This album transformed the band from a local curiosity into a national phenomenon and spawned hits like Kountry Gentleman and Earthquake.
Joshua Olds was admitted to the ICU suffering from kidney failure in November 2009 while the band was on their Christmas Pageant Tour. The band initially vowed to continue the tour but eventually canceled several shows as his health deteriorated before he made a full recovery.
Family Force 5 rebranded as FF5 in 2018 after the departure of lead vocalist Solomon Olds. Only Jacob and Joshua Olds remained in the group when they released the EP El Compadre on the 2nd of March 2018.
Family Force 5 combines rock, dance, pop, hip-hop, and crunk to create their unique musical style. Their lyrics often contain Christian themes delivered with a comedic and raucous edge that blends heavy metal riffs with party-oriented sounds.
