Vincenzo Scifo arrived in the world on the 19th of February 1966 inside a house in La Louvière, Wallonia. His parents had traveled from Sicily to Belgium before he was born.
Scifo transferred to R.S.C. Anderlecht in 1982 after proving himself repeatedly during four seasons of junior football at R.A.A. Louviéroise. He made his first team debut with that historic club in 1983 while still seventeen years old.
He appeared in sixteen games across four different FIFA World Cups held in 1986, 1990, 1994, and 1998. Only fourteen players worldwide have participated in four World Cups throughout history.
The move did not work out as planned because he managed only four league goals in twenty-eight appearances during his spell at Inter Milan. Critics noted his poor defensive work rate off the ball despite his obvious talent.
Indifferent results led to his resignation from that club in June 2002 following a diagnosis of chronic arthritis. He later coached Tubize between 2004 and 2006 before becoming head trainer of R.E. Mouscron in 2007.
