Daigo Umehara started playing fighting games in 1995 at age ten. He stood before an arcade cabinet in Akihabara after finishing Fatal Fury: King of Fighters and faced a long line for Street Fighter II.
On the 4th of August 2004, Daigo Umehara parried fifteen rapid attacks as Ken against Justin Wong’s Chun-Li during the loser's finals. His character health bar hovered at a single pixel when he secured victory with a mid-air kick combo.
Daigo Umehara switched from Ryu to Guile because Capcom released a balance patch that significantly weakened Ryu for competitive play in December 2016. He chose Guile despite partial restoration of Ryu in 2017 to maintain his ability to compete.
The first full-length book by Daigo Umehara was published on the 2nd of April 2012 and reached number one on Amazon Japan’s Kindle store. Additional titles followed including discussions with blogger Chikirin released in June 2016.
In May 2017, Daigo Umehara joined fellow gamers Snake Eyez and PR Balrog under the Cygames Beast banner wearing matching T-shirts bearing a new logo. That same month he launched his own apparel line called Beast in collaboration with Nsurgo.
