Siyabonga Nene, known professionally as Big Zulu, spent years driving a taxi in the Vaal region before he ever released a single that would change his life. In 2008, he made the radical decision to quit the taxi industry, a job that had provided him with steady income but no creative fulfillment.
Big Zulu won the Red Bull Back to the City competition in 2013, four years after he began writing songs and performing in local venues.
