Al Cervi played for the Buffalo Bisons and the Rochester Royals before joining the Syracuse Nationals as a player-coach. His last full season playing at least 50 games occurred in 1952.
Al Cervi led the Syracuse Nationals to one NBA Championship over the Fort Wayne Pistons in 1955. The team reached the finals three times under his leadership but lost twice to the Minneapolis Lakers.
