Frith co-wrote Alligator with Christopher Cerf in 1962 and illustrated the front cover of Bored of the Rings in 1969. These works appeared within the pages of the Harvard Lampoon and served as parodies of James Bond novels and The Lord of the Rings respectively.
He designed Dr. Teeth, Floyd Pepper, Janice, and the Swedish Chef among many others. These characters became central figures in The Muppet Show which aired between 1976 and 1981.
